What better to do a couple of days after the biggest storm in England since 1987 but get on a ferry and head to the exact place where the fastest wind gust in England was recorded at 122 mph.

The red weather warning a few days earlier had meant all schools were closed and a lot of damage was done throughout Hampshire, the winds were still high but the weather warnings were removed.

The ferry trip was fairly tame compared to what we were expecting and after the short trip (first without masks for a long time!) and we headed straight to The Needles.

Quite simply the wind was like nothing we have ever experienced before! Hilarious walk up to the top of The Needles, beautiful blue skies and outrageous winds.

 An evening trip to Robin Hill to see their Spirit of the Orient light show, including toasting giant marshmallows on an open fire and a quick trip to Shanklin beach the next day finished up the trip before heading home.
