Exeter

Wanting to go away for New Years Eve we put a pin in a map to find somewhere neither of us had ever been and ended up in Exeter.

A short but sweet visit, a lovely hotel, great room with a free standing bath but the glass toilet door was a bit of a surprise! There was no fridge to chill the bottle of champagne so we decided to save that for another day.

No forward planning meant everywhere was booked up so we had an early dinner and then went back out to find somewhere for a drink. We spent the evening in a rustic local brewery bar with a rather questionable DJ who it turned out was playing music off his phone – this became obvious when his phone rang half way through a song!

We did a little dancing, including Steve falling over a step blaming the high alcohol % of the beer (that also got the blame for the New Years day hangover). They closed at 11pm so we headed back to the hotel bar for a quick drink before seeing in the new year…only just..!
