Lundin Links, Fife
Friday 23rd – Sunday 25th September 2022
Delayed by a couple of years thanks to Covid we were finally heading up to Fife, however unexpected last minute appointments meant we didn’t set off on the 450 mile trip at 4.30pm! Most of the 8.5hour journey was spent playing guess the 90’s tune and we arrived at the hotel at 1.06am.
It was all locked up but we called the number on the door, clearly woke up the night porter but eventually got into our room and straight to bed with the alarm set for an early start.
Up bright and early for a day of fun (well we were up early, not so sure about the bright part!). Opening the curtains in the room to discover that for once we weren’t looking over a car park and breakfast with a very nice view was a good start to the day.
Suz and Andrew picked us up and first stop of the day was hover crafting. Beautiful location and a lot of fun but so much harder work than it looked! Vikki started well and then tired legs failed her but Steve absolutely nailed it!
We headed in to St Andrews for lunch where Steve sampled stovies for the first time, not sure he will order that again! That was followed by ice cream from a parlour that had far more choice than was necessary and a lovely walk round St Andrews seeing the harbour, the castle, the abbey and the coffee shop where Will and Kate had a date!
Next up was the seaside sauna and sea dipping at Elie harbour. What a fantastic find, a horse box converted into a sauna within dashing distance of the sea. Quick dip, lovely cosy sauna, quick dip, cosy sauna, repeat! Given his serious dislike of cold water Steve was an absolute star and got right into the spirit of it. Lack of changing facilities at the end of it all did make from some entertaining antics!
Having been told the latest we cool have breakfast was 8.30am, we decided to forfeit breakfast in favour of a lay in. Packed up, croissants and coffee to go before heading out for a walk along the beach and pub roast lunch before the drive home.
