Eastbourne & Beachy Head

Saturday 17th – Sunday 18th August 2019

Day 1

A fairly last minute decision to go to Eastbourne for the weekend and we discovered after booking that it was Airbourne, Eastbourne’s annual airshow.

With great intentions of arriving early to make the most of the airshow we called the hotel to check we could park there prior to check in time…however…Unsurprisingly we ended up leaving later than planned and didn’t actually arrive until after 3pm!

Lots of people, some planes, over priced food and a survey about how often Steve has honey completed the walk along the seafront. Steve was very pleased that the guy conducting the survey was surprised at his age category selection, although we all know these people are paid to be polite 😂

A little bit of shopping including browsing a lovely jewellery shop, very yummy crepes (one healthy and one with rot your teeth extra sugar!) and it was back to the hotel for a bracing swim in the outdoor pool with a beer and G&T.

As we couldn’t be bothered to walk all the way back into town we opted for dinner in the hotel. Not the best meal ever for Vikki, you know it’s not great when they just take your entire meal and drink off the bill!

We finished off the evening with the most expensive G&T’s ever in the bar…interesting barman, clearly not a gin drinker as when asked which he would recommend his response was all gins smell like perfume and he also tried to pour the gin without taking the lid off the bottle!

Day 2

A far more organised departure from the hotel than normal, although despite us not being late housekeeping were slightly premature in coming to clean the room!

When we decided to head to Beachy Head for a walk along the cliffs the sun was shining, as we arrived it clouded over, as we walked along the cliffs the heavens opened and as we walked back the sun came back out!

We stopped off for a look round the visitor’s centre and enjoyed Sunday lunch at the Beachy Head Inn followed by ice cream and watching the first aero display of the day before heading back home to reality.
