Milford on Sea

Finally a beautiful, sunny, warm Saturday…can only mean one thing – wash, wax, polish the blue car and head to the coast!

It was an uneventful and direct drive to get us there, with missed turns or detours…hmmm can’t help but wonder if was it a coincidence that Vikki was driving? Expecting to struggle to park it was an added bonus that we had no trouble and as we ended with 16hours of parking there was no danger of it running out so we certainly didn’t need to rush!

At Vikki’s insistence, first stop was ice cream, as the walk along to the castle is pretty long so some nourishment is obviously required! The cafe was somewhat understaffed for the gorgeous day and lots of visitors so the queue for ice creams was pretty lengthy and the poor guy behind the counter was run off his feet!

The walk was a bit windy but pleasantly quiet and it definitely seemed easier than previous visits as the stones were more packed down, so less hard work to walk through. We got to the castle and unfortunately it’s still shut and much of the surrounding area was still closed off.

The walk back was glorious, no wind, no people and no soggy shoes for Steve (much to Vikki’s disappointment). Time for a little sunbathing before stopping in past The Lighthouse cafe for a beer and G&T in the early evening sun.
