The Vyne

Making the most of our National Trust passes we headed to The Vyne, Basingstoke, in search of some bluebells.

Despite the high winds it was a very nice, uneventful blue car drive there (although Steve had to wear his second choice hat as another Ben Sherman one has mysteriously disappeared).

We booked in to go round the house and found out where to head for to get to the bluebells for 50p, as we weren’t allowed to take a photo of the map.

Interesting information during a wander round the house, Steve getting inspiration for wall coverings for his new place – so many potential options.  A quick stop at the cafe for coffee and cake before the bluebell walk  – yummy but not exactly quick, speed is clearly not an essential part of national trust cafe service.

A very nice walk through the woods with lots of bluebells and photo stops, finished off by going back along the lake and a kiss under some mistletoe (minus the berries).

Oh and obviously cows lying down means rain and buttercups absolutely tell you if you like butter in the same way as if you pull and funny face and the wind changes it will stay like that!
