Drive In Cinema

Always up for a new experience and given that visiting the regular cinema isn’t really an option at the moment what better to try out than a drive in cinema. With a choice of Jaws, Terminator 2 or Footloose we went for Footloose…with no idea of what the film was about!!

A detour via a military camp, some guess work directions and a chance spot of the giant screen by Steve and we finally found the right place – in the middle of Longmoor military base camp!

Not exactly heaving with cars we got a spot in the front row (of two!) next to a car with rather steamed up windows – who knew that was actually a thing. Steve cleaned the windscreen while we were waiting for the film to start which was rather entertaining watching him dodge the wipers which were on automatic and kept going off.

The tickets (and website) said there would be hot food and snacks available on site but we decided to eat before we went and take some of our own snacks…just as well as it turned out the only food on offer was crisps and haribo at hugely inflated prices! So instead Steve tucked into his manky caramel popcorn while Vikki enjoyed the far more civilised salty version.

With the roof down, the engine idling with the heaters on, and the stars above it was a really nice experience, albeit it a classic film with a rather strange storyline. The only disappointment of the evening was that Steve had promised to dance around the car but failed to deliver!
